The Basis of the Great Commission

Basis of The Great Commission The Great Commission, also known as the Great Mission, is a mandate given by Jesus Christ to his followers to spread the message of the Gospel to all nations. The basis of this mission is found in the New Testament, specifically in the Gospel of Matthew. In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus says, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." This passage, known as the "Great Commission," serves as the foundation for the Great Mission. It is a call to all believers to go out into the world and share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others, baptizing them and teaching them to follow Jesus. The Great Mission is not just for pastors or missionaries, but for all followers of Christ. It is a...

Special Valentine this February 14, 2022

Image
Special Valentine Upon the execution of Bishop Saint Valentine on February 14 in AD 269 in Rome by Emperor Claudius II, St. Valentine entered into the Catholic Church calendar to be celebrated as a martyr. He was beaten to death with clubs and to have his head cut off on allegation that he was secretly officiating Christian weddings in the prison and supporting persecuted Christians. Prior to his martyrdom, St. Valentine drafted a letter to his jailer's daughter whose sight had been restored by him. He signed off the letter with the words: "From Your Valentine."(Roman Martyrology, Libreria Editrice Vaticana, 2001, p. 141). Reflection Questions: 1. Why do we celebrate Valentine Day on February 14? How significant is this day in our lives? 2. How can we compare our love for others to that love of St. Valentine towards the persecuted believers? 3. Can we see the image of Christ Jesus in the love that we express towards our beloved ones on February 14?

HOLY WEEK

Image
Holy Week is a significant period in the history of a Christian's life. It’s crucial to remember the events that unfolded during Jesus’ passion and death. As we reflect on the cross, let us remind ourselves  Isaiah  49:15 -16 15  “Can a woman forget her nursing child,      that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget,      yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;      your walls are continually before me. ” When Prophet Isaiah conveyed this message to Israel, they were going through a perilous situation in exile in the land of Babylon. It looked as if God had forgotten the Israelites. The message should ignites hope for the exiled Israel and us today.  Application   Let us ask ourselves again what it means to go through perilous times. Currently, the horrible coronavirus has attacked the church indirectly. The h...
